It is a global forum for scientists, decision makers and other stakeholders to present and discuss the latest advances in understanding, predicting and deciding on climate change and its impacts. Previous ENSO conferences have focused on a wide range of topics, including physics and dynamics, prediction, impacts on climate, environment and society, among others. Together, the four previous conferences held in 2005, 2010, 2014 and 2018 brought together more than 1,000 participants from around the world.
Promote the exchange of multidisciplinary, multisectoral and multiscale knowledge on uncertainty scenarios generated by climate change and their impact on El Niño and La Niña climate variability.
Specific objectives:
1. Share scientific advances on the El Niño and La Niña phenomena and their interaction in global climate variability (ENSO scientific component).
2. Socialize lessons learned, progress and results in disaster risk management associated with the impacts of El Niño and La Niña (risk management component).
3. Share progress and developments in the design and implementation of Early Warning Systems (EWS) for monitoring El Niño and La Niña events (Early Warning Systems Component).
Topics to be covered:
1. ENSO monitoring and forecasting
2. Regional climate impacts and processes
3. Development of climate services
Topics to be covered:
1. Sistemas de gestión de riesgos
2. Experiencias en Sistemas de Alerta Temprana
3. Ciudades y regiones
4. Cooperación internacional
